I used the word ‘redoubtable’ today which reminded me of a National Observer poster of “Fat Albert, our redoubtable hero” I had for years in my shop. Enjoyed your piece. Thanks. Also. I still miss the Observer.

Sad to say, I’ve done some “insect time,” but glad to say that God in His grace has warmed me back to Life and let me learn a better way to serve in the place He suited me for and assigned me to!!! Great “parable” and reminder! Thanks for sharing it!

Oh my gosh! Tom (Tucker) is my uncle! One of my friends was just talking about the Iditarod and I was like “I think my uncle is one of the founders”. Took about a minute to find this article and his picture! This is so cool to read!

Knew you’d be bummed Jake got withdrawn – too bad! He WAS doing so well! Mitch Seavey can empathize – sounds similar to his experience last year, though earlier in the race. Dog care and dog’s performance – the 2 main keys to a dog sled race!

Wonderful story; terrific history lesson. Loved the first line of your last paragraph, but have to disagree. Yes, the dogs respond frenetically to GO, but they react just as enthusiastically to WHOA — with a resounding NO! (HAHAHA)
